We are excited to start off our 2022 Aragon Cares activities by donating to the American Red Cross! If you didn’t know, January is national blood donor month, and it is an important time to continue to raise awareness around the incredible need for blood donations. The American Red Cross has announced a huge blood shortage – to the point where they are now at a “dangerously low blood supply”.
January is national blood donor month! And Aragon is passionate about helping combat the blood shortage.
Donating blood is absolutely crucial to help the following groups of people:
- Cancer patients
- Trauma patients
- Sickle cell patients
- Burn patients
- Patients with chronic disease
In this blog, we discuss The American Red Cross’s efforts and how we helped contribute to those efforts this month.
The American Red Cross
The Red Cross was founded on May 21, 1881, and has since been dedicated to serving people in need. They just celebrated 140 years of compassionate service.
The organization is filled with volunteers and staff who work to deliver vital services. They help with:
- Disaster relief by helping families and communities recover from natural disasters
- Lifesaving blood operations with blood donations
- Training and certification by providing safety courses for individuals
- International Services by delivering aid across the world
- Helping military families
In fact, The Red Cross developed the first nationwide civilian blood program in the 1940s and still provides more than 40% of the blood products in this country. This is exactly why we chose to donate to this organization, in honor of national blood donor month, to help combat the blood shortage.
How We are Helping
For our January Aragon Cares event, we have made a donation to the American Red Cross Blood Services. An average of 90 cents our of each dollar the American Red Cross spends is invested in delivering care and comfort to those in need.
Also, in honor of our donation this month, some of the Aragon team has donated blood.
How You Can Help
One way you can help is by donating blood! If you donate blood this month, the American Red Cross is offering special raffle prizes for those who donate from January 1-31.
Those prizes include:
- A trip for 2 to Super Bowl LVI in LA
- A chance at a home theater package
- A $500 e-gift card
- And more!
