A Conversation with Jose Pastor of RingCentral

by Jim Lundy

The customer is king in the modern era. Users are making it clear how they want to communicate and collaborate, and providers are responding with more integrated offerings that enable seamless experiences.

I recently had a chat with Jose Pastor, VP of Product Management at RingCentral, to discuss the current state of communications and collaboration. In this post, we’ll recap a few key points about the ways the market has changed and what users want.

How Do Users Want to Communicate and Collaborate?

Long gone are the days of desk phones and fax machines dominating enterprise communications. Enterprises are shifting toward technologies that are user-centric and user-focused.

We operate in a mobile environment, and text is often the first mode of communication, where voice and video are table stakes. Users want to be able to ping first and call later. Team messaging has become a key component of modern communication and collaborating in the workplace.

Streamlining Communications and Collaboration

During our conversation, Jose and I talked about how to streamline team communications in order to transform an organization. RingCentral has three pillars for making communications easy.

The first is creating a seamless experience with team messaging. Team messaging takes texting and instant messaging to the next level by allowing teams to communicate and collaborate in one space—this means instant messaging, file sharing, tasks, and more.

The second is supporting a mobile, global workforce. In 2018, organizations are distributed across cities, countries, and continents, so streamlining communication processes needs to include support for the mobile workforce.

Lastly, the third is handling multiple workflows by leveraging intelligence. Users want to be able to get work done without having to switch between apps and sacrifice efficiency. Of course, companies are looking to maximize productivity, too, so workers need effective internal communication tools to be able to share files and integrate with other business applications within their communication platform.

Bottom Line

People want to think about the work that needs to be done, not the way that it needs to get done. Leveraging a platform that can streamline communications processes with a focus on team messaging, like RingCentral’s open platform, can help organizations move quickly and effectively.
