This June, the Aragon team had the pleasure of assembling tie blankets for the animals of the Humane Society Silicon Valley. This enjoyable activity proved to be the perfect opportunity to bring the team together and utilize our creative edge while contributing to the greater good.
The Humane of Society Silicon Valley: What They’re All About
Humane Society of Silicon Valley (HSSV) is an animal community center that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide constant support to our furry friends in the Santa Clara area. Their mission is “to save and enhance lives — both two-legged and four-legged!”
All too often, animal shelters acquire a bad reputation of overcrowding and undertreating their residents. Established in 1929, HSSV has become a leader amongst the animal center community by being the first to meet all of the 543 guidelines set forth by the Association of Shelter Veterinarians and breaking the misconception that all animal shelters are cruel. Furthermore, HSSV is the first animal community center in the nation to receive the Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification from the United States Green Building Council, allowing them to be a dual advocate for both animals and the environment.
Beyond fostering animals, HSSV has created a caring community of volunteers and animal-lovers alike. They offer education programs to enhance the human-animal bond, allowing individuals to explore their love for their furry counterparts.
