Mobile Content Management Is Here

By Jim Lundy

Today, we announced the first major evaluation of the Mobile Content Management (MCM) Market with the publication of our Aragon Research Globe for Mobile Content Management. It represents a shift in the focus of content and how it is managed.

The Globe

For this market, there are 19 providers included in our new MCM Globe that represent where the market is going. These providers focus on content that is on the move and make it easy to share content and also secure it at the same time.  We see business buyers flocking to MCM solutions and at the same time, we see leading CIOs racing to enable these MCM offerings.

It wasn’t that long ago—ten years to be exact—when Enterprise Content Management was still forming. I helped shift the focus to ECM with the publication of the first ECM Magic Quadrant in 2004. Jump ahead to 2014, and MCM is the new watchword and it will become the primary way that people want to share content.

To be clear, critical content often still needs to be stored in an ECM repository for records management purposes. That is why so many leading MCM providers support content federation.

The way forward for enterprises is sharing content faster with Mobile Content Management. In addition to our MCM Globe, we are publishing a brand new Special Report on MCM next week. Clients can access the MCM Globe in our AIN Community. You can also see the MCM Globe overview here.
