Nintex Dives into RPA with the Purchase of EnableSoft

By Jim Lundy

Nintex announced its second acquisition in a year—it is buying robotic process automation (RPA) provider EnableSoft. This is a strong move by Nintex and positions it well in a growing market.

Nintex, based in Bellevue, WA, announced on March 4th, 2019 it acquired EnableSoft.

Nintex Dives into RPA

The growth of the RPA market is undeniable and in many ways, it is still early days. Many RPA providers have no expertise in content automation. Because of that, we feel Nintex will be able to leverage its leadership positions in digital transaction management (DTM) and workflow and content automation and offer a differentiated offering via the Foxtrot RPA offering from EnableSoft.

FoxBot and Nintex Are Bringing RPA to the Microsoft Ecosystem

Two years ago when I spoke at Avanade’s tech event on the Microsoft Campus, it was all about Blue Prism. Today, Nintex—now an RPA provider—will be able to leverage its strong heritage in the Microsoft ecosystem and its global partner network to offer alternatives to UI Path, Blue Prism, and Automation Anywhere.

RPA for Workflow and Content Automation

Once the deal is done, Nintex will have an immediate advantage over traditional RPA providers mentioned above; Nintex already was automating document generation. With EnableSoft, it can take content automation to new heights. To us, this represents an advancement on how content processes will be automated. It puts the other WCA providers on notice and it also changes the game in RPA.

Bottom Line: The RPA Market Just Changed

The RPA market—which Aragon now calls smart RPA—just changed. Nintex becomes a content-centric smart RPA provider that will force others to make moves.  The only challenge for Nintex is how quickly it can get the combined offering to market. Given the pace of innovation at Nintex, we expect an update on that soon.
