VP of Research, Betsy Burton Brings You a New Blog Series on Business Transformation

By Betsy Burton

Let’s face it, business transformation sounds great and exciting but supporting business transformation is a lot more complicated than simply adopting the term.

Business transformation is about understanding your future-state business and your business ecosystem and determining which part of your businesses you need to evolve and transform and which part of your business you need to radically change.

Business transformation is about significantly changing your business to support new and different business models which may include the adoption of new and emerging technologies.

Welcome to our new blog series on Business Transformation

I’ve written several notes and blogs about business transformation over the years. But I’ve come to realize that what we really need is an ongoing discussion and engagement on this topic.

For that reason, Aragon Research is starting up a blog series focused on business transformation. During this blog series we’re going to be discussing 3 topics, including: business architecture, digital business, and emerging technologies and business models.

We would encourage you to engage with us:

  1. Comment back to us with your thoughts, ideas, and questions in the comment section below.
  2. Schedule an inquiry to discuss your specific issues and challenges.
  3. Engage with Aragon Research via Twitter and LinkedIn. Make sure to use the hashtag #BusinessTransformationTuesday!

Business Architecture

Business Architecture is an Enterprise Architecture discipline focused on understanding the business strategy and future state, and on creating deliverables that guide operational change to achieve that future state.

Unlike other EA disciplines, Business Architecture is specially focused on business, the business ecosystem, processes, people, organization, and business models.

The first topic we are going to tackle is the role of Business Architecture in helping organizations realize their need for business transformation (or not). We are approaching this topic by providing actionable insights and advice on the most common Business Architecture questions.

Digital Business

As part of this series, we will continue to explore the opportunities, impact, and challenges of supporting digital business.

Digital business is specifically focused on business models that are designed to enable organizations to proactively reach, serve and support their customers and partners from their contextual perspective (i.e., their personal, physical, and virtual context).

In this pat of the series, we will explore new business models as well as technologies organizations are leveraging to support new digital business models, including digital business platforms, immersive environments, highly distributed systems and cloud-based solutions.

Emerging Technologies and Business Models

Last, but certainly not least, this series will explore new and emerging technologies and business models that could change the way we interact and support business.

These technologies and business models include new immersive environments (such as Metaverse), customer experience management, and many more.

Bottom Line

I am very excited to start this dialogue with all of you. Business Transformation is a key executive desire, but many don’t really understand what it means or how to start. Let’s learn from each other.

I will be focusing on delivering blogs that address real world questions and issues, and I will be asking for your ideas and best practices.

Engage, Network, Invite and Execute.
