A Strong Corporate Learning Strategy Will Improve Enterprise Performance

Like many markets in the past year, the corporate learning market is undergoing a lot of change. This blog will discuss why that is, and how enterprises can keep up with these changes to support employee engagement.

Employees Require Learning

People have always had a strong desire for constant learning, but, to put it simply, learners are evolving and want to, well – learn differently. For enterprises, this means that there must be a strong, modern corporate learning plan in place to keep employees engaged. A basic set of skills-based courses in the onboarding process is no longer enough. Employee engagement now requires corporate learning platforms full of content and content libraries.

 

How is the Corporate Learning Market Changing?

To satisfy modern-day employee engagement demands, the corporate learning market is changing and growing. More and more providers are now offering learning content and courseware as part of their licensing options. And, learning platform providers are expanding their offerings to provide even better learning experiences. These changes support continuous learning and allow for employees to receive the right content at the right time.

One specific trend in the market to point out is the shift to video learning. Aragon has been advocating for many years that the fastest way to produce and absorb knowledge is through video. Even better, many video applications are getting smarter and are able to recommend content based on the users’ behavior. Think of TikTok, for example. The app pays attention to what you watch and how you interact with certain content. It then begins to show you similar content or content it believes you would be interested in based on your past behavior. Because of the success of these algorithms, learning providers are offering ‘TikTok for the Enterprise’ types of experiences, recommending certain content to certain employees. Of course, employees will be more likely to interact with content that aligns with their specific interests or needs, so this concept is appealing.

What This Means for Enterprises

If you haven’t already, it’s time to start investing in high-quality learning content. Offering rich learning experiences will keep your employees engaged and even reduce employee turnover. And, of course, better-trained employees mean better performance–and better business outcomes.

Aragon recommends examining and addressing five learning journeys within your enterprise–onboarding, professional skills, job-specific skills, on-the-job training (with coaching), and just-in-time microlearning.
