Salesforce Launches Mobile App Trailhead GO

by Jim Lundy

Dreamforce is just getting started and Salesforce has come out of the gates with an early announcement. myTrailhead, the sales coach and learning solution from Salesforce, has a new companion app—Trailhead GO. The new mobile app is the fruits of the new Salesforce and Apple partnership. This blog is about myTrailhead and the new Trailhead GO app.

Trailhead GO For Apple Devices Only

Salesforce Trailhead is the generic product training that was part of the Salesforce training rebranding from several years ago. Trailhead courses are now available on the new Trailhead GO app that was developed in conjunction with Apple. It’s is exclusive to Apple iOS and iPadOs—meaning no Android for now.

Salesforce launches its mobile app, Trailhead GO.

Salesforce myTrailhead—Doubling Down on Sales Coaching and Learning

Salesforce announced myTrailhead at Dreamforce 2017 and it shipped earlier this year. It comes with a premium price but we expect it to do okay in the market because of the fact that it is so tightly integrated with Salesforce Sales Cloud. With myTrailhead now available, Salesforce has entered the sales coaching and learning market. At $25 per user per month, it is priced significantly higher than many corporate LMS solutions. That said, price has not appeared to be an issue so far.

The New AI- and Voice-Powered Salesforce Mobile App

Last year at Dreamforce 2018, Salesforce demonstrated Salesforce Voice, which is now part of the new Apple-developed Salesforce mobile app that can be downloaded from the Apple iOS App Store. Salesforce has had a number of iOS apps over the years—this new version looks to be more visually appealing and have more Siri integration and speedier login powered by FaceID. Note: to get all of the features of the mobile app, Salesforce users need to be on Enterprise Edition and also have Einstein licensed for AI insights. Note also, that the Salesforce Mobile App will run on Android but  a number of Einstein features are not available for Android (see chart).

The Bottom Line

While Salesforce teased us last year about the new voice-powered mobile app, it is now finally here in two forms: Trailhead GO for training and the new Salesforce mobile app that has been completely redesigned. There is a trade-off—Android users will not get all of the Einstein features. That said, for those iPad Pro users, this move looks to be timely and we will be downloading and trying out the new experience.
