This is the first in a series of blogs about using Intelligent Work Assistants for getting work done. In this case – it is about editing content. Writing content is not easy, but making content tighter and easier to read is hard. However, it is not so hard that an Assistant can’t help. This blog is about editing marketing content and it has a small competition between Microsoft and Google.

Google Gemini Workplace and Microsoft Copilot for M365 are two intelligent assistants for the workplace that can help you edit and refine your marketing content. These Assistants can analyze a set of sentences, such as a company strategy, and extract the most important information.

 

 

The Assignment – Shorten and Refine a Corporate Strategy

The assignment was to give each assistant the same set of sentences, such as a corporate strategy overview, and then have each one analyze and generate a shorter, more concise paragraph that captures the essence of the original content while maintaining accuracy and coherence. 

This capability can be particularly useful for creating executive summaries, marketing materials, or other communications that require a clear and concise presentation of key information. Less is more and these assistants are proving to be good at summarizing.

The Competition between Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot

Both Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot both accomplished the assignment and did well. There was a feeling amongst reviewers that Google’s Gemini produced a tighter summary. However, as most know, quality is a subjective topic. We would note that in other copyrighting exercises, Microsoft was better at headlines for articles than Google Gemini.

Bottom Line

The more knowledge workers use these new Assistants to get work done, the more comfortable they become. In Marketing roles, every word and every sentence matters. It is now clear that Marketing Assistants can do much more than we thought last year. Developing…
