Learning Content Management System (LCMS)
A learning content management system (LCMS) is a specialized content management system (CMS) optimized for instructional content and designed to coexist with a larger learning ecosystem run by a learning management system (LMS).
A well-implemented LCMS is tied into the learning ecosystem in two directions. In one direction, it integrates tightly with the LMS, providing a content taxonomy and uses tracking from the LMS for curriculum management. In the other direction, it faces content creators, providing a collaboration and workflow hub for courseware authors and sometimes content development tools. In this sense, it is a bridge between the input and output sides of the learning ecosystem.
