WebDAV (Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning)

WebDAV (web distributed authoring and versioning) is a protocol for sharing content and interacting with it across repositories. It is viewed as an extension of HTTP, since it works in web browsers. WebDAV also supports search on remote servers via DASL (DAV searching and locating) protocol.

WebDAV was proven to be reliable in its prime. Over recent years, it has been superseded by newer standards like CMIS (Content Management Interoperability Services).
