iPhone as a Remote Control for your Mac
By Jim Lundy
iPhones (and Android Phones) can do a lot, thanks to nearly a million apps between them. The last two days Aragon Research was at ITC in Harrisburg, PA and we gave show floor presentations both days in a small theatre on the show floor (similar to what you see at Gartner Events). The problem was we didn’t have a big AV Staff to help us.
Instead of having to walk in front of the screen to advance the slide on the laptop, I launched the RowMote remote clicker app on my iPhone and started the RowMote helper app on my Mac. Bam, we had an awesome remote control, all running on the iPhone.
I came across RowMote when I was a GM at Saba. During Ops Reviews, everyone was using the same clicker on Windows PCs. While that would have worked, I wanted something to show that things were changing (as evidenced by my Mac). After trying a remote control app that was intermittent in consistent connectivity, I settled on RowMote. Check it out.
Put your iPhone to work and look cool doing it.
