G.722, also called wideband audio, is known as HD audio. While it was approved years ago, it has taken time for it to become widely adopted, in part because many voice platforms use PSTN and often have older phones (endpoints) that don’t support it.

G.722 supports Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), which means that people who use their computer and headphones can hear HD audio, which can be noticeably better in quality. G7.22 also improves user ability to hear the audio, even if others are talking over one another.
