Panopto Helps Power-up Zoom Recordings
by Jim Lundy
This week, Aragon attended Zoomtopia 2019, Zoom’s third annual user conference. We will be recapping Zoomtopia 19 in a separate blog, but suffice to say it was a strong event.
Panopto, now a Zoom partner, was there in force and unveiled its brand new offering. With the growth of Zoom, there is a need to manage, search, share, and analyze all of the growing Zoom recordings. This blog is about Panopto’s new offering.
Panopto Is Zoom Certified: Meeting Recordings onDemand
Panopto, a leader in enterprise video, launched its updated Zoom Video recording application that is now part of the Zoom App Marketplace. With growing analytics and search capabilities, Panopto is a natural choice to partner with Zoom. We saw the Panopto demo at Zoomtopia and it looked compelling. The ingestion of Zoom recordings was seamless.
Why Do Enterprises Need to Manage Video?
One of the questions we get is why do we need to manage video content? The answer is because there will be so many video recordings and that content is valuable. Until now, it was hard to find a particular recording. Panopto and others are making it easier to do that. So, whether it is for partner training, town walls, webinars or the like, establishing best practices to manage video content isn’t optional these days.
Because Zoom is growing and supports so many different use cases (meetings, webinars, training), some of those live sessions will be just as valuable when played back. Panopto isn’t the only one doing this. Most of the other enterprise video providers integrate with web and video conferencing providers, in part because of the growing demand.
The Digital Enterprise Is Powered by Video
What we see is that digital enterprises are doing more video meetings—all you saw at Zoomtopia were new video endpoints from Neat, Poly, and many others. Digital enterprises are leveraging video more frequently by digitizing all of their conference rooms. This creates a need to manage recordings and that is where Panopto and others come into the picture.
One thing to ask yourself: why are other firms having so much success with video meetings instead of just conference calls? Why do customers prefer video content 10:1 over text content? The answer is because video is more engaging.
Bottom Line
There is much more to discuss regarding enterprise video. Aragon covers the full gamut of enterprise video, including the rise of image and video analytics. Suffice to say, the growth of Zoom and Panopto—both of which lead with video—and others, proves to everyone that the market is there. The question is, how is your enterprise putting video to work?
Editors Note: Aragon has a brand new Enterprise Video Globe that is publishing in early November.
