Are You Ready to Manage Digital Labor?
Research Note
Summary
AI-enabled systems that include chatbots and digital assistants will blur the bounds that have traditionally separated human workers from technology. It will become progressively harder to treat machines and people as completely separate labor forces.
Managers must understand the relationship (similarities and differences) between managing humans, AI-enabled systems, and traditional IT systems in a hybrid workplace. They must also develop new training, supervisory, and collaboration skills to support their emerging hybrid workforce.
In this note, we explore how organizations will manage a hybrid workforce composed of both human and digital labor.
