Oracle and Google Partner on Multi-Cloud Solutions
Oracle and Google Partner on Multi-Cloud Solutions
Oracle and Google Cloud announced a partnership to simplify cloud adoption for businesses.
Google Cloud’s Cross-Cloud Interconnect will enable customers to deploy general-purpose workloads with no cross-cloud data transfer charges. The companies announced that later this year, an integrated Oracle Database@Google Cloud, will be available with pricing parity with OCI.
This collaboration will potentially enable companies to integrate Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Google Cloud services, potentially streamlining cloud migration.
Benefits for Oracle and Google
This partnership offers Oracle access to Google Cloud’s vast user base by offering its database services within the Google Cloud environment. Additionally, the high-speed connection between the clouds can improve the efficiency for Oracle’s cloud offerings.
For Google the partnership strengthens its competitive position by incorporating Oracle’s database solutions, enabling Google to support a broader range of enterprise-class customers seeking a comprehensive multi-cloud solution.
Impact on the Market and Customers
This collaboration is a positive step toward promoting a more interoperable environment.
Businesses gain flexibility to leverage best-of-breed solutions from each provider with less risk of vendor lock-in; enabling customers to optimize their cloud investment for cost and performance.
The Multi-Cloud Future
This partnership further illustrates a shift, as we have noted previously, towards a multi-cloud future. End-users will potentially be able to unlock a wider range of services and potentially reduce costs by adopting a multi-cloud strategy.
Organizations must assess their cloud needs, identify complementary services from different providers, and develop a robust multi-cloud management strategy.
Bottom Line
This partner provides customers with more integration options and may reduce lock-in risks. However, Oracle and Google customers must explore the long-term pricing and performance of Oracle services on Google Cloud .
