The Journey to Smart RPA Starts Now: The Quest for Better Automation Results
Research Note
Summary
Automation takes many forms and impacts many areas of an organization. While we have seen the positive impact of process management and workflow in work management, there are many tasks that have been mundane and dragging back workers. RPA came on the scene to automate the many manual and brute force tasks that created a drag on processes and the workers that participate in those processes. While the work is not done for RPA, there is a whole set of opportunities that require more intelligence to be combined with or baked into RPA. This research note will differentiate smart RPA (SRPA) from basic RPA, identify additional benefits that SRPA can reach for organizations, and outline the journey RPA needs to take to become smarter over time. SRPA builds onto RPA benefits in an exponential way.
