Summary

Deploying and managing digital labor will continue to be very different from traditional technology systems. This means business and IT leaders must make plans and budget for the additional and on-going management of it.

In this Research Note, we highlight some of its critically differentiating characteristics.

Introduction

Aragon Research believes that the emergence of digital labor will have a profound impact on how organizations leverage, manage, and support their workforce into the future.

Digital Labor refers to the AI-enabled computer applications that are used to perform goal-driven tasks that had previously or could be otherwise performed in part or in full by humans. It may emerge as logical entities; embedded in software applications and systems (e.g., advanced digital assistants, agents, or advisors). It also may take a physical form, such as robotics or automotive.
