When I coined the term in October 2015, little did I imagine the momentum the Digital Business Platform (DBP) would get. Shortly after, a number of vendors jumped at the idea – and for good reason.
Because of their adaptability and speed, Digital Business Platforms can be used in many different business and technical opportunities—especially ones focused on human processes, such as the customer experience.
What Is a Digital Business Platform?
A Digital Business Platform brings new and emerging technologies together to reach the lofty goals of continual customer delight, increasingly effective/efficient business operations with work management, and continuous product/service potentially leading to new business models. It is a key piece of the puzzle for organizations looking to transform themselves to this new digital world.
Since then, the definition has grown deeper and wider than I expected. While the DBP evolves, there are significant opportunities that your organization can leverage now – early in the digital era – to drive outcomes, deliverables, and benefits. There are also vendors who offer DBPs, and I’ve rated some of them in a recent Tech Spectrum market evaluation report.
