Enterprise Content Management (ECM)
Enterprise Content Management (ECM) has been around for 25 years, and many enterprises still have multiple content repositories. Enterprises have to maintain critical content due to business and compliance regulations, and that has become the primary task for traditional ECM systems. Enterprises are also starting to connect their ECM farms to their Enterprise Social Networks to increase access to content and maximize the investment in the ECM system.
Business users want flexibility, and many are starting to look at mobile and cloud-based alternatives. Often, business users pull out a credit card and make a technology purchase when they don’t get what they want from IT.
