Google Lowers Prices and Rebrands as Google Workspace Gemini
Google is doubling down on the Gemini brand and it took the time to rebrand its assistant Duet as simply Google Workspace Gemini. This follows suit with what Microsoft has done with Co-Pilot and to us, it is fine.
However, there is much more to this story with the significant updates Google has made to Workspace Gemini and this blog discusses that.
Google Workspace Gemini Offers a New Standard in Pricing at $20 Per User
Google has obviously been listening to its trusted testers because it just rolled out a new price plan that starts at $20 per user per month. This Gemini Business plan offers up to 1000 interactions by a user per month.
Also, Google indicated that they don’t think many users will exceed that threshold period, which means that $20 per user could become the new standard. Aragon Research expects this price point to put pressure on Microsoft, which is sticking with its $20 per user Copilot price for Microsoft 365.
Comparing Microsoft 365 CoPilot vs. Google Gemini Pricing
It is pretty straightforward for most Microsoft 365 users. It is $30.00 per user per month. The exception is Microsoft Home or personal subscription. That leaves all work accounts or Microsoft 365 at the $30.00 price point.
Google Gemini Can Perform Different Roles
Google positions Google Gemini as an always-on Assistant. This is partly because it can now access the Google Gemini Ultra 1.0 LLM.
Some of the roles listed on its site include Research Analyst, Sales Assistant, Writing Coach, Creative Partner, and Effects Editor. The demo of the slide creation with a custom image of an air quality sensor was pretty strong.
Bottom Line
Google is making Google Gemini more powerful for the digital workplace. With a lower price point and an improved Assistant thanks to Ultra 1.0.
Google Gemini looks to be a more compelling offer for people doing knowledge work.
