Rigetti Computing—A Quantum Leap Forward
By: Craig Kennedy
Rigetti Computing—A Quantum Leap Forward
It’s been a little over a year ago since Chad Rigetti decided to step down from his roles as President, CEO, and Director of Rigetti Computing.
This began a new chapter for the company, which had been under the guidance of its founder since its inception in 2013, as the leadership baton was passed to Subodh Kulkarni.
The Novera QPU—Quantum Innovation Delivered to Your Door
At the end of 2023, Rigetti Computing announced the Novera Quantum Processing Unit (QPU), its first commercially available QPU.
This Novera QPU is currently available to purchase starting at $900,000 and can ship in 4-6 weeks after the order is confirmed and shipping logistics are finalized. Its target clients are research labs and educational institutions.
Based on the Proven Ankaa-class Architecture
The Novera QPU includes a 9-qubit chip that features tunable couplers for fast 2-qubit operations and a 5-qubit chip for testing single-qubit operations. It’s based on Rigetti’s Ankaa-class architecture, which features a square lattice of qubits and tunable couplers that enable high-fidelity two-qubit operations.
The company’s 84-qubit Ankaa-2 system is currently available to its customers on the Rigetti Quantum Cloud Services (QCS).
On-Premise Quantum—Greater Control and Security
By having physical control of the QPU, users get deeper access to the tech stack, with more control as the QPU can be easily rewired and customized to fit your goals. This also eliminates cloud scheduling conflicts and resource-sharing issues.
Your intellectual property and the entire infrastructure no longer leave your facility, so you can have greater confidence and control of the safety and security of your data.
Fab-1: Rigetti’s Quantum Manufacturing Hub
Rigetti’s Fab-1 facility, located in Fremont, CA, is the industry’s premier dedicated and integrated quantum device manufacturing facility.
The Fab-1 facility can build entirely new designs for 3D-integrated quantum circuits in approximately two weeks. This rapid prototyping capability significantly outpaces the months typically required for academic research teams to design and build new quantum computing chips.
Bottom Line
Despite the departure of its founder, Rigetti Computing continues to break new ground in quantum computing.
With the commercial availability of the Novera QPU and the capabilities of the Fab-1 facility, Rigetti Computing is well-positioned to remain a significant player in the quantum computing industry.
