Salesforce’s Dreamforce – New Einstein CoPilot and CoPilot Studio Announced
While the ink isn’t dry on Salesforce SalesGPT and ServiceGPT, it looks like Salesforce just changed the name to Einstein CoPilot.
This blog provides our initial analysis of what Salesforce just announced.
Salesforce Einstein CoPilot – A Better Name
What Salesforce just did is decide to dump the GPT name and go with Copilot endorsing the Microsoft branding it announced earlier this year with Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 and CoPilot for Dynamics 365. Note that Aragon also updated the Marketing Category earlier this year with CoMarketing Clouds (see this link for more details).
In an earlier blog post, I highlighted the SalesGPT and ServiceGPT pricing news from Salesforce. Anyway, it looks like GPT is out and CoPilot is in – which is good.
Salesforce Einstein CoPilot Studio – For Customized Conversations
Salesforce also announced CoPilot Studio to allow for a more custom experience to be built. We’d note that this will allow for both internal and external conversations to be had. CoPilot Studio could be a hit in Shopping and e-commerce applications.
Key capabilities of CoPilot Studio include:
- Custom Prompt Builder – including language for product information and news
- Custom Skills Builder- such as process tasks like Competitive analysis – to pull a custom report on competition
- Model Builder – Customers can select one of Salesforces’ proprietary LLMs or they can bring their own model (BYOM) to deploy.
Salesforce was First with a Trust Layer
Like Google and Microsoft, Salesforce announced a new trust layer that ensures that customer and company data is never compromised. We would note that Salesforce was early with a trust layer – as Einstein Sales Cloud has always had a Trust layer for over four years. See the figure for how it will work.
CoPilots – The Changing Interface into Applications
What Salesforce and others have realized is that Generative AI-based apps are a new interface – a conversational one that can allow users to “talk to” applications – whether it be via Prompts today or full Natural Language in the near future.
This change is foundational and while the applications today are not tuned, the promise of crisper conversations and better and faster answers from CoPilots is where this is headed. This is a new race in Enterprise Software – and Salesforce is in the game.
Bottom Line
It is clear that the world of Software is changing and for customer-facing applications such as Sales, Service, and Support, GenAI is powering a new way to get information faster. Enterprises need to embrace this new approach and should be asking for Roadmaps from their key technology providers so that a plan can be developed to put this new interface to work.
