Google Agentspace Gets Smarter and Easier to Build Agents and Connect Them
At Google Cloud Next event this week Google left no doubt about how serious it is when it comes to building configuring, and connecting multiple agents together to help humans get work done.
Google recognized this need and launched Agentspace in December. This innovative product empowers employees with access to Google’s cutting-edge foundation models, powerful agents, and the wealth of their organization’s knowledge. This blog dives deeper into all of the new announcements made this week at Google Cloud Next in Las Vegas.
Agentspace enables seamless information retrieval across the enterprise, intelligent synthesis using Gemini’s multimodal capabilities, and direct action through AI agents. The strong initial interest from industry leaders like Banco BV, Cohesity, Gordon Food Services, KPMG, Rubrik, and Wells Fargo underscores the transformative potential of this platform.
Why Google is Doubling Down on Agent Accessibility
Building on this momentum, Google is now expanding Agentspace to make agent creation and adoption even simpler. Starting today, customers gain access to several key enhancements:
- Unified Agentic Search in Chrome: Employees can now leverage Agentspace’s powerful search, analysis, and synthesis capabilities directly from the Chrome search bar. This integration streamlines workflows by allowing users to find information – text, images, audio, and video – across various enterprise systems (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Jira, Salesforce, ServiceNow, web content, etc.) without leaving their primary work environment. By building an enterprise knowledge graph, Agentspace connects employees with relevant data, teams, and tools, transforming fragmented content into actionable insights.
- Agent Discovery and Creation with Agent Gallery and Agent Designer: Agentspace introduces two new features designed for ease of use:
- Agent Gallery (generally available via allowlist): This provides a centralized hub for employees to discover and utilize agents from Google, internal teams, and partners. Integration with the Google Cloud Marketplace allows customers to easily access and deploy a wider range of specialized agents.
- Agent Designer (in preview with allowlist): This no-code interface empowers employees, regardless of their technical expertise, to create custom agents tailored to their specific needs and workflows. By connecting to enterprise data sources, these agents can automate and enhance everyday knowledge work tasks. Agent Designer complements the developer-focused Vertex AI Agent Builder, with agents built in Vertex AI Agent Builder also publishable to Agentspace.
- New Expert Agents: Deep Research and Idea Generation: The Agent Gallery is expanding with the addition of two new Google-built expert agents:
- Deep Research agent (generally available via allowlist): This agent can autonomously explore complex topics, synthesizing information from both internal and external sources into comprehensive and easily digestible reports – all from a single prompt.
- Idea Generation agent (available in preview with allowlist): This innovative agent assists employees in generating novel ideas across any domain. It then evaluates these ideas through a competitive system inspired by the scientific method to identify the most promising solutions.
Analysis: Democratizing AI Agents for Enterprise Innovation
Aragon Research views Google’s latest advancements in Agentspace as a critical step towards democratizing the adoption and creation of AI agents within the enterprise. By integrating agentic search directly into Chrome and providing no-code tools for agent creation, Google is lowering the barrier to entry for employees across all technical skill levels. The introduction of powerful, pre-built agents like Deep Research and Idea Generation further accelerates the value proposition, offering immediate solutions for complex information synthesis and innovation challenges.
The emphasis on interoperability through the Agent2Agent (A2A) Protocol is also noteworthy. Google’s initiative to create a common language for agents across different ecosystems signals a commitment to an open and collaborative AI landscape. This will be crucial for enabling more sophisticated multi-agent workflows in the future.
What Should Enterprises Do? Embrace the Age of AI Agents
Enterprises should recognize the transformative potential of AI agents and actively explore platforms like Google Agentspace. The ability to empower employees with AI assistants that can automate complex tasks, synthesize information efficiently, and even contribute to innovation represents a significant competitive advantage. Organizations should:
- Evaluate the potential use cases for AI agents within their specific business context.
- Explore platforms like Google Agentspace to understand their capabilities and ease of adoption.
- Consider pilot programs to test the effectiveness of AI agents in addressing specific business challenges.
- Invest in building an AI-ready information ecosystem that ensures data accessibility and security for AI agents.
Bottom Line: AI Agents are Ready for Enterprise Prime Time
Google’s expansion of Agentspace signifies that AI agents are moving beyond theoretical potential and are becoming a practical reality for enterprises.
The focus on ease of use, powerful pre-built agents, and open interoperability positions Agentspace as a key platform for unlocking the benefits of AI-powered automation and innovation. Enterprises that embrace this evolution and empower their employees with AI teammates will be well-positioned to thrive in the increasingly intelligent landscape of the future of work.
