Cisco Doubles Down on AI Assistants, Collaboration Division Leads the Way at Cisco Live 2024
Cisco Live 2024 showcased Cisco’s commitment to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI assistants across its product portfolio. While every division highlighted its progress in AI, the Collaboration division truly stole the spotlight with groundbreaking advancements. This blog reviews the AI Collaboration news.
All Cisco Divisions Embracing AI Assistants
Although not all AI assistant developments made it to the main stage, it’s clear that AI assistants are a priority for every division at Cisco. What’s notable is that the framework and infrastructure for these AI assistants originate from the Collaboration division. This means that we can expect to see rapid advancements and wider implementation of AI assistants throughout Cisco’s product lines in the coming months. The AI Assistants will include:
- AI Assistant for App Dynamics
- AI Assistant for Security
Cisco Collaboration’s AI Assistant Innovations
The Collaboration division unveiled three significant additions to its AI Assistant portfolio:
- AI Assistant for Contact Center: This intelligent assistant empowers contact center agents with real-time insights and guidance, improving customer interactions and streamlining workflows.
- AI Assistant for Contact Center Developers: This new tool provides coding assistance and automation capabilities for contact center developers, accelerating development cycles and enhancing the overall contact center experience.
- Enhanced Intelligence in Webex Devices: the ability to command Cisco Devices – via Generative AI and the Control Hub admin interface makes Cisco unique in the industry. Some of the capabilities include Voice commands and AI driven camera views – this is just the start. Others in the video conferencing market need to take notice as these capabilities mean big benefits to users and to admins.
New Voice-Based Virtual Agent and Custom Dictionaries
Cisco Collaboration also introduced a voice-based virtual agent, enabling natural and intuitive customer interactions. Additionally, custom dictionaries were introduced, allowing for personalized responses and tailored experiences for customers.
Cisco Has Been Quietly Making All its Video Endpoints AI ready
What many do not give Cisco credit for – and it is partly because embedded GPUs and FPGAs are not sexy – is Cisco’s investment in its hardware – to make it AI ready. For the Cisco Collaboration Endpoints – the investment in AI firmware goes back almost 8 years.
So today, all Webex Video Endpoints are AI ready – and given the hype around AI PCs (and the need for replacing aging fleets of Windows PCs), Cisco was years ahead in seeing this trend since a large part of its install base of Video Endpoints already is AI ready.
Bottom Line: The Future of AI Assistants at Cisco
Cisco Live 2024 solidified Cisco’s position as one of the ones to watch in AI assistant technology. The Collaboration division’s Intelligent Assistant – which has been available for three years, has paved the way for rapid progress in AI assistant implementation across the entire company. Now the other divisions need to get their customers using these new AI Assistants.
Advice for Enterprises: Keep a close eye on Cisco’s AI assistant developments as they hold the potential to improve customer experiences, streamline workflows, and drive operational efficiency. Cisco’s commitment to AI assistants signifies a significant shift in the way businesses interact with customers and employees, marking an exciting new era in enterprise technology.
