Debunking 4 AI Myths
Debunking 4 Myths About Artificial Intelligence
As artificial intelligence (AI) expands and becomes a part our everyday life, misconceptions spring up.
Here are 4 myths about AI:
MYTH 1 – AI Cannot Fail
Many believe, AI cannot err. This is a myth.
Last week, Google’s botched demo proved that AI tools can make mistakes. As Google debuted its conversational AI tool Bard, spectators quickly noticed an error. This error cost Google $100 billion in market cap.
AI can make mistakes and demonstrate biases it operates within parameters set by humans who can make mistakes and have biases.
MYTH 2 – AI is Capable Of Thoughts and Emotions
Artificial Intelligence does not have the ability to think, feel or act independently.
AI tools are only capable of performing tasks that they have been programmed to do.
MYTH 3 – AI Can Operate Without Humans
AI without human oversight may not produce accurate results or outcomes.
For instance, data scientists must continually audit and adjust AI algorithms to ensure that the correct data is being gathered.
MYTH 4 – AI Will Take Over All Jobs
While Artificial Intelligence will make certain jobs obsolete, it will not completely take over all jobs.
AI will most likely result in more machines that can take on more tedious and repetitive tasks. However, if this change takes place, the new workplace will call for professional roles that only human beings are capable of doing.
