Cisco Webex Fearless Leader Javed Khan to Depart Cisco
Javed Khan, the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cisco Webex, has announced his departure from Cisco to assume the role of President at a connected car company. During his tenure, Khan has been instrumental in transforming Webex into a modern, AI-powered collaboration platform. Under his leadership, Webex experienced a significant revitalization, solidifying its position as a leader in the highly competitive collaboration and contact center markets.
Javed Khan as a Transformational Leader
Khan’s impact on Webex has been transformative. He spearheaded the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into the platform, introducing the industry’s first intelligent assistant for meetings. This innovation has not only enhanced the user experience but has also set a new standard for AI-driven collaboration tools. Khan’s visionary approach, which was years ahead of others, has positioned Cisco Webex at the forefront of technological advancements in the collaboration space.
Before Javed was made the SVP and GM of Webex, I used to see him at US Airports frequently. This was before COVID and we became friends. Once he was promoted, some Cisco executives wondered why we had a connection and I simply said – when you hang out more than once at an airport you get to know someone pretty well.
Cisco Webex is in Good Hands with Jeetu Patel and Anurag Dhingra
While Khan’s departure marks the end of an era, Webex remains in capable hands. Jeetu Patel remains as the EVP and General Manager of Cisco Security and Collaboration, and Anurag Dhingra has been named as Javed’s replacement to run that Collaboration business. Anaurag is also a charismatic leader and has been at Cisco for over 25 years.
Javed Khan’s Next Move
For Khan, the next chapter involves leading a connected car company, where he will undoubtedly leverage his expertise in technology and innovation to shape the future of transportation. His departure from Cisco is a significant loss, but his legacy will continue to inspire the Webex team to push the boundaries of collaboration technology.
Bottom Line
Javed Khan’s departure from Cisco marks the end of a remarkable era him and he leaves a lasting legacy of leadership and results. His reinvented Webex and positioed it as a leader in the AI-powered collaboration and also the AI powered Contact Center. While his absence will be felt, Webex remains in capable hands, and the platform is well-positioned to continue its growth and innovation.
