What are AI Agents and Agent Platforms?

AI Agents and AI Agent Platforms—what we used to refer to as AI chatbots—involves the technologies behind building a software based application called an Agent that can answer questions and with Agentic capabilities, can do tasks and roles.

AI Agents use Generative AI, which is powered by Large Language Models that harness natural language processing (NLP) technologies that may be text chat or voice to provide an engaging interface for applications. AI Agents have advanced rapidly in the last two years and now they are expanding the capabilities they have. The challenge for many enterprises is getting started. That said with prompting and generative AI based coding, the ability to develop AI Agents has gotten much easier. That said, enterprises need to have a project plan, which includes vendor selection, development and AI Agent testing. All of that needs to be done before going live.
